(verify printed p.275) — not confidently matched to specific fasteners; likely candidates are the slide pin bolts (smaller value) and the caliper bracket-to-knuckle mounting bolts (larger value), but this is unconfirmed.
Piston removal procedure
- Clean caliper.
- Place a rag on the retaining side of the body.
- Remove bleeder valve.
- Attach an air hose to the bleeder valve port.
- Slowly increase air pressure.
- Remove piston assembly.
Caution: this is a compressed-air piston removal method — keep fingers clear of the piston travel path.
Piston seal removal & replacement
- Use a finger and remove as shown.
- Coat a new seal with DOT 4 brake fluid and install components in reverse order.
Disk brake pad inspection
- Remove brake pads and measure thickness.
- Limit: 10.0mm (0.394 in)
- Replace: 2.0mm (0.079 in)
Note: if the vehicle has over 40,000 kilometers (24,855 mi), replace pads.
