A/T Transmission Fluids
Applies directly to our truck. This is the fluid spec that governs our 3A/T (the manual-transmission oil spec in Manual Transmission & Transfer Case Oil does not apply to us).
Fluid/capacity table
| Component | Fluid | Capacity |
|---|---|---|
| Transmission Fluid | ATF-SPII | 3.5 Liters (3.70 US qt) |
| Transfer Oil (4WD) | Multi-Grade 75W/85W | 0.9 Liters (0.95 US qt) |
| Front Shaft Slip Yoke | ATF-SPII (lubricate before installation) | As Required |
| Oil Filler Tube O-Ring | ATF-SPII (lubricate before installation) | As Required |
(verify printed p.178) — reconstructed from a scrambled OCR table by positional order. The Transmission Fluid (3.5 Liters, ATF-SPII) and Transfer Oil (0.9 Liters) rows are higher-confidence: the 0.9 Liters transfer case figure independently matches Manual Transmission & Transfer Case Oil. The Front Shaft Slip Yoke / Oil Filler Tube O-Ring rows (both “As Required, ATF-SPII”) are lower-confidence — the exact fluid-to-component pairing for these two is not confirmed.
Automatic Transmission fluid level (inspection)
- Start engine and warm to operating temperature. Engine temp must be a minimum of 70-80°C (158-176°F).
- Engage parking brake.
- Place transmission shifter in “N” (Neutral) position.
- Remove dipstick and verify fluid level. Add as required.
Note: Never overfill A/T Transmission — damage will result.
Automatic Transmission fluid draining procedure
- Remove Drain Plug and drain fluid.
- Install Drain Plug and torque to specifications.
- Add fluid as required.
| Torque callout | N·m (kgf·m) |
|---|---|
| T=23 (17 ft-lb) | (2.3) — Drain Plug |
Note: If foreign material or debris is found in the drained ATF fluid, remove the oil pan and inspect.
Note: After changing ATF fluid, start the engine and allow it to warm to operating temperature before test driving.
Note: Never reuse ATF fluid.
