Run Out Testing

Front hub run out limit

  1. Jack front of vehicle and remove tire and brake hardware.
  2. Attach a dial gauge as shown.
  3. Rotate assembly and test for run out.

Limit: 0.05 mm (0.002 in).

Note: if over limit, replace wheel bearing and retest.

Driveshaft backlash inspection

  1. Raise vehicle and support.
  2. Clean yoke surfaces and make an alignment mark pattern as shown.
  3. Turn shaft in a lower and upper rotation, measuring engagement travel.

Backlash limit of engagement: 5 mm (0.197 in).
