Camshaft Oil Seal Replacement (SOHC)

Components

1. Oil seal
2. Camshaft oil seal
3. Rocker arm assembly
4. Camshaft

Procedure

1. Remove V-belts and timing belt as described in Section 16.
2. Remove the camshaft as shown in the upper diagram.
3. Replace the oil seal.
4. Reassemble.

Note: use tool MD998713 to properly install the new oil seal.

Note: coat all moving parts with SAE 30W engine oil before assembly.

Note: never reuse oil seals.

Note: if a new camshaft is installed, use engine break-in lube in combination with SAE 30W engine oil.

Torque

• Rocker arm shaft / camshaft journal bolts (all journals): 28–34 N·m (2.9–3.5 kgf·m; 21–25 ft-lb)
