Crankshaft Pulley Removal

Components removed, in order

  1. Drive belt (power steering / A/C equipped vehicles)
  2. Alternator drive V-belt
  3. Crankshaft pulley

Removal procedure

  1. Remove belts in the order listed above.
  2. Use tool MD998747 as shown, with a spare V-belt: wrap the spare V-belt around the crankshaft pulley and use MD998747 to pinch the belt against it, then use a socket and breaker bar to loosen the crankshaft retaining bolt.
  3. Installation is the reverse of removal.

Specification

  • Crankshaft pulley bolt torque: T = 88–98 N·m (9.0–10 kgf·m; 65–72 ft-lb)
  • Note: place a small amount of SAE 30W engine oil on the crankshaft pulley retaining bolt before installation.
