Tools & Special Equipment

Special service tools referenced throughout Chapter 2. The source table’s SOHC/DOHC applicability columns (a grid of “O”/“X” marks) did not survive OCR with reliable column alignment — applicability notes below are drawn from where each tool is actually cited in later sections of this chapter, not from the garbled grid itself.

MD998608Flywheel retainerHold flywheel while loosening crankshaft boltReferenced (unnamed) in Section 16 SOHC timing belt procedure
MD998442Air bleederCooling system air bleed(verify printed p.23) — not otherwise cited in this chapter
MB991412Cylinder head bolt socketCylinder head bolt removal/torque, “4 valve”(verify printed p.23) — labeled “4 Valve”; per the vehicle classification note in Section 8/Section 2, valve-count labels in this scan have proven unreliable, so confirm against the printed page before assuming this is SOHC- or DOHC-specific

(verify printed p.23) — the tools table lists MB991395 as the front crankshaft oil seal tool, but Section 23’s own installation procedure (printed p.58) names a different part number, MD999570, as the front seal driver. This is a direct part-number conflict between two source pages; confirm the correct tool number against the printed page before ordering or using either.
