Vehicle Classification
The Pajero Mini (chassis codes H53A, H56A-H58A) is built around two grade lines, distinguished primarily by engine state of tune. Both share the same 4A30 engine block but differ in valvetrain and induction.

- The XR grade is the naturally aspirated SOHC line.
- The VR grade is the DOHC intercooler-turbo line.
- Roman numeral suffixes (I / II) denote trim/equipment sub-variants within each grade rather than mechanical differences.
- Chassis code E-H56A appears against the MPI/turbo line in the source table.
Internal type/model codes
The manual’s classification table also lists internal factory codes (e.g. MNME, MNUE, MKUE, MNSF, MKSF, MNHF, MKHF) alongside transmission/drivetrain codes (V5M11, V3AS1, V5M41, V3AS2). The scanned table’s row/column alignment did not survive OCR cleanly enough to map each code to a specific grade/transmission combination with confidence.

Pattern: MN- prefix = 5-speed manual, MK- prefix = 3-speed automatic. All are chassis E-H56A, MPI electronic injection.
Our truck’s VIN resolves to type MKPF3 in the EPC — a later-series code beyond this Dec-‘94 grid (VR-II Anniversary Limited, 3A/T), consistent with the MK-prefix = automatic pattern. Covered by manual supplements, not this base table.
