Master Cylinder & Brake Booster Replacement: Standard
(verify printed p.271) — the printed page number at the bottom of this scan reads “371”, which is out of sequence with the surrounding pages (270, then this page, then 272). Almost certainly an OCR misread of “271”; flagging rather than silently correcting.
Master cylinder removal
- Disconnect brake lines.
- Unbolt and remove master cylinder.
- Remove base gasket and discard — new gaskets must be used for installation.
Brake booster replacement
- Remove master cylinder (see above).
- Disconnect vacuum hose.
- Remove clevis pin.
- Remove seal and discard — new seal must be used during installation.
(verify printed p.271) — the booster replacement steps are numbered 2, 4, 5, 6 in the source with no recovered step “1” or “3”; either those steps were lost to OCR or the numbering intentionally continues/shares steps with the master cylinder removal list above. Confirm the complete step sequence against a clean copy before using this as a stand-alone procedure.
Torque specifications
| Torque callout | N·m (kgf·m) | in-lb |
|---|---|---|
| T=9.8 | (1.0) | 87 |
| T=15 | (1.5) | 133 |
| T=15 | (1.5) | 133 |
| T=11-17 | (11-17) | — |
(verify printed p.271) — the last row, transcribed as “T=11-17 (11-17)”, has identical N·m and kgf·m figures, which is inconsistent with the roughly 10:1 N·m-to-kgf·m ratio used everywhere else in this manual (a kgf·m column of “11-17” would need an N·m column near 108-167). This is very likely an OCR duplication error rather than a real spec — do not use this value until checked against the source figure.
